About
I am fortunate to have at least two passions in life. The first is a passion for teaching; the second is a passion for ideas.
As a teacher, I try to reach every student by developing individualized pedagogical approaches, encouraging one on one meetings outside of class, and actively expressing my love of learning.
One part of my research is focused on the nature and value of spirituality, a kind of experience I view as distinguishable from and independent of religion.
My writing tends to engage with both American and Asian philosophical traditions, relating them to concrete ethical, social, and psychological problems.
I recently completed an article on American Transcendentalism that is forthcoming in the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy.
